Day 5: feats of engineering & magic

For our only full day in Las Vegas we decided to pack in the family-friendly activities. We began with a tour of Hoover Dam, including the Power Plant, and regardless of how we may feel about damming rivers, it was truly amazing what they were able to build in 1930-35. The scale of the turbines at over 30 stories tall was incredible. After lunch and a quick swim at our campground, we saw a comedy magic show with Nathan Burton (super fun, kids are going to practice their magic tricks this trip!) and then walked the strip to the Venetian for a stroll along the faux Grand Canal & dined in “St. Mark’s Square”. It still feels like Disneyland to me inside those huge casinos...
