Day 3: sand, wind, and learning the meaning of hydration

Today we hiked the Mesquite Flat sand dunes first thing in the morning, and it was already over 100 degrees. Crazy how the sand just sucks moisture from you. Recovering in the visitor center AC, the kids became Junior Rangers and we visited Zabriskie Point twice to see the changing desert colors. It made our “best sunsets” list.
