Nevada is a fairly large state (#7 in the U.S.), but never is it so evident as when you are driving across its entire width. Starting in Salt Lake City, we witnessed salt flats as we drove past the great salt lake, but then for several hours more we saw mostly straight road and high desert. We did find one oasis in the middle - our lunch spot at B.J. Bull's in Elko. There we enjoyed incredible pasties (hand-held meat and vegetable pies) and dessert pies (one peach and one rhubarb). We rolled into Sparks just in time for a quick dip in the pool and our last dinner on the road.
