Pueblo, as in the cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde built in the 1200’s by Pueblo Native Americans. On day 17 we went on a ranger-led sunset tour down from the Mesa to the Cliff House structures nestled under the rim of the cliff. With the setting sun light, some distant thunderstorms rumbling, a small group and an amazing park ranger, we experienced the magic and pretty isolated nature of these dwellings. And on Day 19, we scrambled down the other side of the mesa at sunrise to tour Balcony House. In this structure we were able to explore the rooms of what may have been a ceremonial or other type of community gathering place, and tried to picture what it might have been like to live day to day in such an extreme place.
